500kV Transmission Line (2), JICA, Dadu-Guddu-Sibbi, Shikarpur

The work is to Design, Manufacture, Supply, Installation, Testing & Commissioning of 2x 500 kV Double Circuit Quad Conductors Bundled T/Lines for Looping IN & looping Out

• 220kV T/L Guddu-Uch Ckt-1, In & Out (52.8 km)
• 500kV T/L Ckt 1 (In) & Ckt 2 (Out) (16.3 km)
• 500kV T/L Ckt 1 (Out) & Ckt 2 (in) (16.3 km)

The Project was aimed to increase the system’s stability, redundancy, and interconnectivity. A 500/220 kV Grid Station was constructed in Shikarpur and it was connected to several generation hubs in Guddu, Daddu, Uch, and Sibbi with two (02) Nos of 500 kV Double Circuit Transmission Lines and one 220 kV Double Circuit Transmission Line.

The terrain was waterlogged and the bearing capacity of the soil was abysmal. Pile foundations had to be employed through the route of the transmission line. The paddy season in which most of the transmission line route remained understanding water posed a major challenge. The last 15 towers of the 220 kV line were falling near remote Manji Pur village of Baluchistan Province. The works on these towers were carried out under security by Frontier Corpse due to the security situation.
